I was just about the first person to show up today aside from the Strasburg RR Staff. I could have had another hour or so of sleep!
Strasburg 8618 is a former NYC/PC/CR SW8. It came from the North Shore Railroad where it was painted in an ugly green and lettered Lewisburg & Buffalo Creek.
PRR 9331 44-tonner, former East Altoona Enginehouse switcher.
SRC 2, a Plymouth JLA built 1910.
This tankcar built from a flatcar is similar to the East Broad Top's tankcar.
A more modern tankcar and a hopper car and boxcars.
Former Canadian Pacific 972 and Reading 1187 behind the Strasburg Shop.
The fireboox roof sheet from LIRR G5s 39. More photos of this boiler from the shop tour.
This is one of the original trucks from EBT coach #5, owned by the Tweetsie RR in North Carolina.
SRC 1, a Plymouth HL built 1926. #1 was bought new by the Strasburg RR in 1926 and has been here her entire life.
PRR ND 476087
SRC 475, a former N&W 4-8-0 built 1906, has been backed out of the enginehouse.
The wind picks up.
Dave oils his machine.
475 backs down to the ash pit to be prepared for the days chores.
475 comes up to the station platform to couple to the train.
The conductor gives the engineer a signal.
475 is coupled on and ready to go once all the passenger are onboard.
475 has Baker valve gear.
Time for the 12:00 shop tour. SRC 89, a former CN 2-6-0, is in the shop.
A shop employee takes a break from his duties to explain what is being done to RGS 20, a 36" gauge 2-8-0 owned by the Colorado RR Museum. The smokebox is absent in this photo. See this photo for a shot of RGS 20 in the Strasburg Shop two years ago.
Earlier on the page you saw a photo of a firebox roof sheet. Here is where it came from. This is LIRR 39's boiler, a Juniata-built G5s 4-6-0.
This wheel from RGS 20 needed some work.
