The Maine NG Museum is located next to downtown Portland, ME. The group operates a 1.3 mile 2-foot gauge railroad out of the site of the Portland Co. which built the #9 2-footer at the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington. The railroad skirts the edge of the coast line. GE 23-tonner #1 is ready with a three-car train today. |

Some passenger equipment in the siding. |

The volunteers were nice enough to show us around. Here is their 2-foot guage Fairmont. |
The museum doesn't have any steam operating at the moment. Their three steam engines are all in the shop. Here's #4 which was built by Vulcan. |
#7 is a Baldwin and missing her boiler. |
#7 again. |
This little GE has seen better days. |

They have lots of 2-foot gauge equipment here. Much of it came from Edaville. |
Great looking coach here from the SR&RL. |
Here's their tiny shop. It's just a small temporary structure JUST big enough to fit the steam locomotives. |

Inside one of the Portland Co. buildings are several 2-foot cars. Here's inside a coach. |

We're on the train now and looking at what Portland Co. buildings remain. At one time steam locomotives were built here. Portland Co. was involved with other things as well. |
This cruise ship was late or there might have been lots more people on the first train. We were the only passengers. |
Maine NG RR runs along the coast line and along a walking patch. So photos are easy and you get a good view of the water. |
At the end of the line is this 1,530 foot swing bridge (225 ft swing truss). The bridge has been out of service since the 80s when it was set on fire by arsonists. Since then, downtown Portland has been cut off from rail service. |
Our train at the bridge. |

Controls of the GE 23-tonner. |

When we got back to the boarding area some volunteers got busy touching up the green paint on the cobime car. |
2-foot GE looks strange from this angle. |
Before leaving Portland we wanted to take a walk along the shore and get a few photos of the train. While waiting for the train here are a couple photos I took looking toward the Ocean. |

Here's the train. #1 shoves the three cars with the conductor on the leading end. |
With 150 hp and four traction motors, #1 makes easy work of this train. |

And now they return. |
On our way out we took a look around the yard. Here's their small diesel, a Plymouth. |
Critter jackpot. Two Plymouths and a Brookville. There are two more Plymouths on the other side. |
Portland Yacht Services neighbors the museum. |
