July 25 - Regular Day
The 1860s stone farm house with wooden-frame additions.
The new sliding doors for the ground story of the locomotive coaling dock.
#15 has backed out enough to get a better view of #17.
Almost out of the roundhouse.
Backing down the shop lead.
July 26 - Regular Day
Three 1920s EBT speeders are staged on tracks 1, 2, and 3.
August 2 - Regular Day
August 9 - Speeder Work
Cleaning the alluminum sheeting on the Silver Sightseer...just apply a little elbow grease. It sure was dirty from all these years without a bath.
Courtney now uses his buffer to bring the aluminum to a shine.
Notice the air tank, still stenciled with the last date it was tested: 3-13-56.
Shop tour by Lawrence Biemiller.
August 15 - Civil War Weekend
The 3 inch gun is adjusted toward the intended target.
We had speeder rides all day.
August 16 - FEBT Work
Work on the shop roof continues.
Another FEBT group inserted a new sill beam which will support the boiler shop wall.
The farm house and additions.
August 22 - Reproduction Trucks
The two reproduction trucks built for Combine #16 have finally arrived at the EBT. Unloading the first truck.
On the left is a truck from Combine #14. Compare it to the tiny combine #16 truck on the right. There is still much work to do with these trucks, mostly brake rigging.
August 23 - Miscellaneous
The new doors for the bottom of the coaling dock at the south end of the yard. Take a look at the condition of the originals in this photo.
The M-3 shed got a new roof covering last weekend. It doesn't look pretty in this photo, but it was later painted black like the rest of the building roofs.
October 9 - Fall Spectacular
#17 is on display next to the car shop facing south.
The new door have been hung on the coal dock.
November 2 - Miscellaneous
PennDOT has closed the Runk Road bridge to vehicular traffic due to structural concerns.
November 10 - Speeder Work
Last month we start dissambling this EBT speeder for a thorough restoration and quality paint job.
November 11 - Speeder Work
She's down to the frame. The next step will be to sand blast and repaint.
November 17 - Speeder Work
It took some muscle, but two of us were able to lift the nearly 300 lb RQD engine off the frame. The carburetor and exhaust pieces are sitting next to the engine.
The frame without the engine.
Now we've separated the sub-frame from the main-frame.
November 24 - Speeder Work
A good scrubbing does wonders. The red on the engine is a brighter red than we thought.
Casting date for this engine is 12-24-46, which is 4 1/2 years before the car was built.
November 28 - Speeder Work
The photo shows the Aughwick on the left coupled to a steel boxcar on the left. The coupler on the Aughwick hangs down due to a piece that carries the shank higher not being installed.
A future restoration project for FEBT is this 3-bay hopper.
FEBT plans to rebuild the roof on this boxcar before doing any other work to it.
