Conway Scenic Railroad Photos from September 26-27, 2011

September 26th
We got to the Conway Scenic shortly after lunch while a train was out on a Conway trip. Here's the station and yard area.
Across from the North Conway station is this view.
Such a large station for a small town.
New Hamshire Central 44-tonner.
This RDC came from the NYSW.
MEC 501 was built at the GTR St. Charles Shops
CSRX turntable and 4-stall roundhouse.
Looks like CSRX 216 GP35 is getting a little work done on her dynamic brakes.
This engine was built for the Norfolk & Western.
I found a former Conrail B23-7. It's out of use with a major mechanical failure.
Quite the variety of stuff at the turntable.
Freight house.
Former L&N U23B.
First time I ever saw a wig wag crossing signal.
CN 7470 arrives at North Conway from a trip to Conway.
Conway Scenic's "Gertrude Emma" is a Pullman parlor-observaition car originally used on the PRR.
7470 has cut away and the 573 is coupled up. 573 will take the next train to Bartlett.
Passing through Glen.
Roger's Crossing.
In the background the train pulls into the siding at Bartlett.
573 pulls right up to the road and will cut away to run around the train.
Heading back up the main.
Back at North Conway 7470 is getting ready for the last trip of the day to Conway.
573 arrived with the Bartlett train.
Here's the inside of our car, the Gertrude Emma.
At the end of the day it's time to put away the 7470.
Another F unit inside the roundhouse.
The turntable is powered with a air motor run off the engine's train air.
Backing in.
GP38.
September 27th
After doing the Mt. Washington Cog Railway we decided to check out the Conway Scenic's Crawford station. Little did we know the Notch train was arriving soon. Here's Saco Lake across the road.
CSRX 252 coming into the station at Crawford Notch.
After the Crawford Notch stop, the train continues on to Fabyan. Between Crawfords and Fabyan is this view of the Mt. Washington Hotel. That's Mt. Washington on the right. The Cog Railway right-of-way can be seen.
Pulling into Fabyan.
252 is running around its train.
The station at Fabyan is a restaruant.
Whistle post and yard limit sign at Fabyan.
252 and the notch train have begun their trip back to North Conway.
