We've arrived in Cass early enough to do some exploring along the 'dead lines.' Looking south just beyond the crossing at Cass.
This is the new boiler for the Climax which is under restoration. It's not new, but will fit.
Cass's office cars have been moved way back here out of site...probably for the better.
This CN caboose appears to have caught fire. Afterwhich it collapsed.
C&O camp car.
This is the old boiler for the Climax.
I'm pretty certain this strangely shaped boiler belonged to the Heisler.
This wooden frame coach is falling apart. This is the last thing north of Cass on the C&O line.
This live steam model of Western Maryland #6 is in the ticket office.
Cass #11 has brought the Spruce train down to the station for boarding.
Station stop at Whittacker.
Station stop at Spruce.
At one time there would have been a town behind #11 in this angle.
#11 simmers away.
Fire patrol is following us around.
The US Army 2-8-0.
Cass #7.
This reproduction handcar is available for rides.
Saturday May 26th
#2 and #11 are still coupled together this morning.
#11's spark arrestor is fastened on.
Another angle.
#4 was just brought back to service, but was not under steam this weekend because Cass has not heard back from the FRA.
Heisler #6 is steaming behind #4.
The Brimstone and New River shay was in the shop during my last visit. It was supposed to be cosmetically restored, but for some reason or another, that didn't happen.
The shop line up with #4, #6, #11 and #2.
WM #6 is in the shop for new flues.
Cass #5 is on the far track, I believe for a 1472 day overhaul if I recall correctly.
Another shot of #4.
#2 has backed down to the water tank for a drink.
With cocks open they now back down toward the station.
#2 leaves a cloud of steam.
#11 has coupled to the train and backs down.
#2 has pulled across the road and waits. She'll be the helper for the Bald Knob train.
