Colorado RR Museum Pics from August 26, 2006

In August 2006, Frank Shoop and I made the trip from Pennsylvania to Colorado with a stop in Indiana to visit EBT #6. The purpose of the trip was to visit the Durango & Silverton, Cumbres & Toltec, and Georgetown Loop, plus the Colorado RR Museum. I shot 35mm slides during the trip and, as you may have heard, about half of them were destroyed during processing. Frank has kindly provided his digital images for this Web site.

The museum is located in Golden, CO, not far from the Coors brewing plant. Here is a switcher formerly belonging to the plant for switching around cars on the miles of track within the facility. At some point it got hit pretty hard and suffered frame damage.

This is former Algoma Steel 55-tonner #4. It came from the D&SNG, and before that the EBT. The D&SNG made some modifications to it and gave it a coat of primer.

Some of the equipment found at the CRRM belongs to the Georgetown Loop, Inc, former operator of the Georgetown Loop, including the two locomotives they use for their short rides. This GE is lettered for the Georgetown Breckenridge & Leadville.

A lot of the equipment that has yet to be restored is on this side of the roundhouse. There's a DRGW EMD GP30 back there! Also notice the locomotive with the balloon stack. Another goose is in there too.

In this view, the two active locomotives can be seen on the right. One is a Shay.
